RCare, Inc., a leader in nurse call and emergency response systems, set out to modernize their mobile tools for caregivers. The RCare Mobile app enables caregivers to deliver efficient, real-time care with a range of connected solutions—from alerting staff to tracking patient needs. To expand functionality, improve usability, and reach iOS users, RCare partnered with Noble Applications to design and build a more consistent, modern cross-platform experience that enhances communication, streamlines workflows, and supports both caregivers and residents.

Solving the Business Problem

The original Android-based RCare Mobile app was a powerful step toward caregiver mobility—but its interface, performance, and reliability were limiting adoption and effectiveness. Meanwhile, many facilities used iOS devices or required a cross-platform solution. RCare needed an experienced development partner to rethink the app design, optimize backend integration, and create an iOS version that would serve as a foundation for modernizing their entire mobile strategy.

The solution had to balance simplicity with depth: providing real-time alerts, secure communication, incident logging, and NFC-based activity tracking in a fast, intuitive interface tailored for high-stakes healthcare environments.

Noble's Collaboration

Noble worked closely with the RCare team to redesign the user experience from the ground up and bring the platform to iOS with new visual polish, streamlined workflows, and backend reliability. The effort included design validation, usability testing, and close attention to the integration with existing RCare systems such as incident management, device alerts, and SIP-based voice communication. Key Features Delivered:

  • Secure Login & Authentication: Users log in via credentials managed through RCare’s central admin interface.
  • Real-Time Notifications: Visual and audio alerts for active incidents, messages, and device supervision events.
  • Two-Way Communication: In-app text and voice chat between logged-in users, with group messaging support.
  • Incident Management: View, acknowledge, and respond to incidents with real-time updates and priority escalation tools.
  • “I Got It” Acknowledgment: Caregivers can claim incidents to signal responsibility and reduce response duplication.
  • ADL Recording with NFC Tags: Caregivers can start and stop activity logs using near-field communication tags placed in resident rooms.
  • Device Monitoring: Admin-level views of device status such as low battery, tamper alerts, or missing supervision.
  • Administrative & Network Settings: Fully customizable behavior, including sound profiles, emergency call delays, and Wi-Fi reconnection automation.
  • Accessibility & Safety Controls: Includes enforced minimum audio volumes, alert reminders, and out-of-range warnings.

The iOS app was built with scalability, security, and facility-level customization in mind, ensuring it would integrate seamlessly into RCare’s infrastructure while offering an improved experience for caregivers.
