Plant Tissue Plus, developed with Rock River Laboratory, is a mobile tool that streamlines plant tissue sampling for agronomists and growers. It improves speed, accuracy, and efficiency by simplifying submission workflows and eliminating redundant data entry. Designed by Noble Applications, the app is available on iOS and Android and integrates with RRL’s cloud platform for real-time syncing and tracking.

Solving the Business Problem

Traditional sample collection processes relied heavily on paper forms and disconnected systems—leading to lost time, duplicate effort, and avoidable errors. Rock River Laboratory identified the need for a modern digital solution to bridge the gap between the field and the lab.

The challenge was to design an intuitive mobile platform that could connect to RRL’s existing systems and workflows, support real-time field data entry, and make sample submission faster and easier for agronomists. Noble Applications was brought in to design and build a solution tailored for field conditions, streamlined workflows, and lab integration—all while keeping usability front and center.

Noble partnered with Rock River Laboratory to develop Plant Tissue Plus as a native iOS and Android application. Designed specifically for agronomic use cases, the app was engineered to support dynamic grower-farm-field hierarchies, customizable sample entries, and accurate data capture under field conditions.

Key Features Delivered:

  • Grower-Farm-Field Hierarchy: Pulls directly from RRL’s cloud-based systems to populate user-specific drop-downs for growers, farms, and fields. New fields can be added on the fly and are automatically saved to the correct account.
  • Field Intelligence Inputs: Dynamic form fields adjust based on selected crops—allowing users to input crop type, growth stage, plant part, and variety with relevant options.
  • Photo Integration: Supports attaching up to two photos per sample, allowing users to capture visual context for lab analysis.
  • Sample Profile Management: Users can save and reuse sample profiles to reduce repeat data entry.
  • Offline-Aware, Mobile-First Design: The app is optimized for smartphones used in the field and conforms to native platform standards for iOS and Android.
  • Lab System Integration: Submissions are handled through RESTful API calls and returned as JSON objects, ensuring compatibility with Rock River Lab’s backend infrastructure.
  • Simple Navigation: The user interface is streamlined to reduce steps and present just the right fields at the right time—boosting efficiency and reducing errors in the field.
