LifeMatters
Solving the Business Problem
Noble Applications was engaged by Empathia, Inc. to update the existing LifeMatters Android and iOS apps to meet current accessibility standards and comply with evolving Apple App Store and Google Play Store policies. The apps originally lacked full support for screen readers, voice control gestures, and accessibility hints, particularly for multilingual users in English, Spanish, and French. Additionally, the apps required color contrast improvements to align with LifeMatters’ branding and compliance with updated Android API level requirements. Empathia also sought to enhance user engagement through push notifications and improve analytics capabilities to track app usage more effectively.
Noble’s Collaboration
Noble Applications partnered with Empathia to enhance the accessibility, functionality, and compliance of the LifeMatters mobile app for iOS and Android. They conducted a comprehensive accessibility audit and resolved all issues, adding voice control gestures and meaningful screen reader hints in English, Spanish, and French. The app’s color scheme was updated to meet WCAG contrast standards while aligning with brand guidelines. Noble also added push notification support with a new list view for alerts, upgraded Google Analytics to track user behavior across screens, and ensured compliance with platform policies, including Android API level 26+. Throughout the project, iterative test builds were provided to validate improvements and support final app store submission.
Project Importance
This project was essential for maintaining LifeMatters’ app availability on major app stores while delivering an inclusive, accessible experience to all users, including those relying on assistive technologies. By improving accessibility and platform compliance, LifeMatters ensured clients could access vital mental health and support resources without barriers. The addition of push notification support and enhanced analytics also positioned Empathia to better engage users with timely, relevant content, thereby supporting improved employee wellbeing and the overall success of the EAP program.
