Solving the Business Problem

Large dairy farms often juggle multiple tankers at various stages of filling and cleaning—each with its own compliance and logistical requirements. Previously, this meant relying on paper records or disconnected systems that made it difficult to track fill times, seal applications, and trailer readiness for pickup. With growing plant volumes and time-sensitive pickup windows, farm staff needed a faster, more reliable solution.

DairyPatron was envisioned to fill that gap. The app enables on-farm workers to manage tankers from wash tag to seal application using a streamlined, mobile-first interface. With just a few taps, workers can initiate filling, log timestamps, apply seals, and trigger notifications that sync with DairyHauler and the plant’s ERP system—reducing manual input and ensuring accuracy from farm to plant.

Noble's Collaboration

Noble worked with DSI and Grande Cheese Company to define, design, and prototype the full user experience for DairyPatron. The design process included interactive wireframes, workflows, and a clickable prototype optimized for tablet use—ensuring usability in real-world farm environments where efficiency and clarity are critical. Key features included:

  • A real-time, visual display of available tankers sorted by wash tag age
  • Timestamp logging for Start Filling and Complete Filling events
  • Seal application tracking, with options for farm staff or drivers to log final seals
  • Support for syncing records during internet outages
  • Multi-parlor support per farm, with user-friendly tanker views
  • A preview map for plant personnel to track incoming tankers and prioritize sampling

DairyPatron was carefully designed to not only meet operational requirements but to provide a clear communication tool for presenting the app’s concept to partners and stakeholders. The prototype included full branding, interaction logic, and documentation to support future development.

Project Importance

DairyPatron enhances transparency, reduces error, and saves valuable time for both farm workers and dairy processors. By initiating tickets and providing complete seal and fill histories, the app removes the friction and ambiguity that can occur during farm-to-plant transitions.

The result is a more connected supply chain, with better data, better decisions, and better milk management. With Noble’s design guidance, DSI now has a fully validated, production-ready prototype that positions them to move confidently into development—bringing smarter tools to farms and processors alike.
